Hi, we’re Mokhado.
We produce top quality cold pressed extra virgin oils of the finest quality. Our goal is to show you that oil doesn’t have to be a mundane ingredient - in fact, we think it could even be the star of the show. We want to make exceptional oil a staple in kitchen cupboards nationwide.
With good health and great taste in mind, we use only the best raw ingredients to make our oils. The range includes avocado, apricot kernel and macadamia, and each and every one of them is Great Taste Award winning.
The Mokhado story began decades ago with the Gilberts and the Rottchers, fruit farmers in the Limpopo province of South Africa. Our families have been in the oil business together for over 40 years, but Mokhado is the brainchild of us - the fourth generation of Gilberts and Rottchers.
We’re passionate about everyone in the food production process getting a fair deal, and we’re all about keeping it local. We operate a skills sharing partnership between family-owned groves and local smaller farmers to source the best ingredients to produce the highest quality oils.
Wonderfully light, golden oil with a nutty flavour, makes it
wonderful for sauces, vinaigrettes and sauteeing vegetables. It contains high levels of mono-unsaturated fats (more than olive oil even!) as well as natural antioxidants and Palmitoleic Acid which aids fat metabolism.
A decidedly nutty oil with a beautifully fragrant, fruity nose. It’s high smoking point makes it great for frying fish and poultry, infusing its beautiful aroma. The almond-like flavour adds something extra to your baking as a butter substitute.
This super versatile oil has a smooth yet grassy flavour, making it brilliant for high heat stir fries and general frying, as well as making delicious raw vinaigrettes or finishing dishes with a drizzle. And there’s health benefits - studies have shown that regular consumption of Avocado Oil improves the ratio of good to bad cholesterol. It also contains Vitamin E, a natural anti-oxidant.
